Why Do I Vote?
by Bob Bradley
They say that I should vote to make my voice heard
To me they don’t listen, not one single word
Or maybe they do, can I take that chance?
If you don’t help choose the music don’t complain about the dance
I vote for all the disenfranchised
Kept so long in silence
By the discrimination of gender or race
Or those barred from choice by violence
I vote for those who have given their lives
So that I in this polling place can stand
Unimpeded by oppressive tyranny
In a free and privileged land
I vote to tear the future from the clutches of the past
To keep freedoms banner flying
Insure that this precious opportunity will last
To prevent liberties ring from dying
