We Will Withstand

by Aidan Cooper
(California)

Chaos engulfs the land.
We will withstand.

An increscent threat, an evil scheme.
Screams. The fluorescent jet stream.
Yet, the American Dream is forever agleam.

The towers spiral downwards.
Devoured by these cowards.

And as a new day dawns, a mother is gone.
A friend, a brother, a father.

A family, torn. A nation, cries.
And as one, we mourn, for our scornful demise.

But from the rubble, the burning stubble.
Our flag stays churning, yearning for peace.

Chaos has engulfed the land.
We will withstand.
